VeloSprints 2012
VeloSprints is US Open Cycling Foundation’s winter fundraising tournament. It is a bicycle sprint competition indoors. Our two fixed-gear bikes are bolted to a computerized rig that measures speed and distance. Venues host VeloSprints to raise money so that local schools can receive our Cycle-for-Health class in the spring.
VeloSprints is also a competition. On April 1 we will hold the VeloSprints Grand Finale. VeloSprints participants compete ~ within their category ~ for prizes. Last year the prizes included carbon fiber wheel sets, gift certificates from Rapha cycling wear and more.
VeloSprints are available to be run at any school or any venue who wants to raise money for a particular school or to go to our general fund. VeloSprints is also popular for team building programs and kick-off events for team cycling events like the MS 150 ride, the Tour de Cure or the Blackstone River Greenway Challenge.
For local businesses, like bicycle shops, VeloSprints brings in cutomers during the slow winter months. For schools, VeloSprints at a local bicycle shop, health club or other venue, ensures that your kids will be trained and smart about bicycling before they hit the streets in the warm months. For everyone, VeloSprints promotes bicycling which is the natural solution to the epidemics of inactivity and malnutrition, reliance on fossil fuels and concern about man-made climate change.
